Accelerating the impact of Australian start-ups

We were engaged by Australia’s Commonwealth and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the NSW Government to apply our knowledge in design thinking, innovation, and commercialisation, to co-design and deliver an accelerator program for some of Australia’s leading Internet of Things start-ups.

Based in Sydney, we designed and ran an intensive eight week program where participants were schooled in the lean start-up methodology, design thinking, stakeholder engagement and management, and sales.  With a focus on customer exploration, the teams interviewed hundreds of potential customers and stakeholders and gained valuable insights into how to build sustainable and scaled impact.

The teams leveraged each other’s networks, were introduced and worked with mentors and ‘big business’ partners, and have since gone on to win a number of competitions and prizes.  But most importantly, from solar powered agro processing machinery (Agsol) to technologies for enabling clean energy for the world’s poorest the technologies we supported are already having an incredible impact globally.

This program was a great example of ‘fast design’, where interventions can be made to have an immediate impact on the quality of people’s lives.

That’s why we keep doing the work we’re doing; we can see first hand the impact of helping people and organisations amplify the impact of their innovation.
